NBA DFS 12/31/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks

What’s up everyone and welcome to Spike’s Building Blocks! If you’ve never read my content before, welcome. To those that have, welcome back. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports during NBA season. This article is designed for me to highlight the top plays of the day. Obviously, things can change rapidly in the NBA with injury news close to lock, so I would be sure to subscribe to our premium package for access to our Final Thoughts cheat sheet, our premium discord channel and my core plays. Our Core Plays product gives you the ability to tail all of our analysts in your contests each night. We do the work for you, and you simply plug and play with our premium Core Plays. With that being said, let’s hop into the plays…

Building Blocks

Ja Morant

This is the first time we are seeing priced under 10k all season. Maybe it’s because Desmond Bane is back but either way we are getting some value here with that pricing.  Still 10.1 on FanDuel so I gear this slightly towards Draftkings. Ja played the Pels earlier in the year and was dropping 1.5 FPPM and only played 28. Let’s assume he plays his normal 35 minutes and this becomes an elite play. We all know the upside he has as taking over a game is in his tricks up his sleeve. For the most part, guards have been eating against NOP. Through the last 12 games they have either gotten double-doubles (points and assists) or put up 18 points or more against them. Ja can do much more than that as he gets boards and steals.

Joel Embiid

Harden just popped up as questionable and Maxey ruled out for injury management. Personally think Joel is in play either way but if Harden was to miss this game it puts him at the top of my list. Going against a Thunder team that has a bunch of injuries with big men and also have been very bad against centers this year. Even when fully healthy, they don’t have a body that can stack up against Embiid. Through out his last four starts against OKC he has gotten 3 or more stocks with a high of six of them when they played last season. We are going to have and find more vlaue to plug in multiple studs tonight which should make it much easier to get to him.

Value Plays

Alec Burks/Saddiq Bey

I list them both because of great value. Both are priced under 5k on Draftkigs and should see 30+ minutes against a Minnesota team that really hasn’t played up to it’s potential. Both of them are in play as value pieces that will help us spend up on studs elsewhere.  Matchups against both positions are favorable and the spread is only at 5.

Naz Reid

This will depend on the status of Gobert (questionable). If Gobert is out then Reid is far too cheap for the starting role he will have again. reid got into foul trouble early last night which limited his upside but we saw his backups have solid nights with their time on the court. This is more of a volume play as the matchup is decent but not great.

Mark Williams

This is a bit of a deeper play but his minutes have been spiking recently and we know that Plumlee can  get into foul trouble rather easily. At the same time, if this turns into a blowout you can also make it a safe bet for him to get that run as well. I watched this guy while he as at Duke last year and he has a lot of raw talent. It is only a matter of time before they start using him more and more and he is prced at the 3k minimum on OwnersBox tonight!
