NBA Jock MKT Play (3/18/22)

Jock MKT is fun new way to play DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite NBA buy for tonight’s slate.

What Is Jock MKT?

The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for the night.

3/18/22 Top Buy

RJ Barrett, SG, New York Knicks

Highest Potential Bid: $8.00

Break-Even Point: 18th

If you’re new to Jock MKT, you may be struggling to read what’s listed below the Barrett recommendation. Essentially, I’m willing to spend up to $8.00 per share for him. He needs to finish 18th in the field for me to make my money back with the opportunity for me to make more if he finishes higher.

For example, if I buy 1 share of Graham at $8.00 and he finishes 18th in this field, I make my $8.00 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $17). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $8.00). It’s that simple.

I know, I know. I’ve written up Barrett constantly over the last few weeks but he continues to make us money nightly. People have been slow to adjust to Barrett’s new role in this Knicks offense, while we have been able to exploit that with his price inefficiencies. Since the All-Star break, Barrett has seen a huge 5% usage bump and ranks top-ten in the NBA in drives per game. His rates are up across the board, and he’s approaching 39 minutes per game which offsets any games where he struggle with the efficiency side of things. To further boost him up my ranks tonight, he has a great match-up with the Washington Wizards. In that same sample of games post All-Star break, Washington has dropped all the way to bottom-three in team defense. They haven’t been able to defend anyone, and they don’t have anyone that can really match-up with Barrett in the half-court.

Barrett comes in 20th in Jock MKT’s pre-rank for tonight’s slate, which is about where our projections agree with. I think this ceiling continues to grow, however, if his shot is falling and this spot against this defense couldn’t get any better.
