NHL Value Vault 10/15/19

Hey Karma Nation,

Welcome to a slightly different version of your favorite salary savings source. Finding very cheap options is a challenge on today’s slate. All seven games on the schedule project over/under goal totals in the six goal range, so there is no real shootout or defensive battle to exploit.

Let’s get after it with some skaters that inch up towards mid-price but can still fit into your lineups.

Offense:

  • Oskar Lindblom PHI ($4700-DK, $4800-FD) Has rewarded his fantasy faithful with double-digit scoring in each game regardless of site through three games. I like his chances at a fourth-straight high level performance with the power play time he sees, and Calgary’s mid-pack defense.
  • Andreas Johnsson TOR ($5200-DK, $4500-FD) This winger on both the top line and top power play for the Leafs is at home versus the Wild on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. He has taken 14 shots in 6 games and should produce again against Minnesota’s 21st ranked defense and shaky goal tending.
  • Tanner Pearson VAN ($4900-FD, $5100-FD) He’s been extremely active for Vancouver with 18 shots and 4 points through four games. Other than a dud against Calgary, Pearson has given double-digit fantasy return on both sites in every game. I really like the Canuck’s 2nd line to score well against Detroit’s 29th ranked defense.

Defense:

  • Sean Walker LA ($4200-DK, $3800-FD) Is aggressive when he has scoring chances with 4 shots in each of his last three games. Walker also has produced a point in every game this season, and has outplayed all other King’s defensemen with the exception of Drew Doughty, but you get Walker at a significantly lower price.
  • Ryan Ellis NSH ($4600-FD, $4800-DK) Is a top-pairing blue liner that directs the Preds 2nd unit power-play for under 5K on both sites. Has tallied five points, taken 12 shots and blocked nine through five games. Let’s take advantage of a salary that doesn’t yet match Ellis’ output.

Goaltender:

  • Thatcher Demko VAN ($7800-DK, $7500-FD) Is making his season debut at home facing Detroit, and won three of his four home starts last season. Other than the Nashville/Vegas game, goaltending choices on tonight’s schedule are all risky. If you’re not paying up, Demko is the best choice you can roll with tonight.

Enjoy the match ups AND hopefully enjoy a bigger bankroll when these games end.
