NBA DFS 1/18/23 – Ben’s Building Blocks

What’s up everyone and welcome to Ben’s Building Blocks! If you’ve never read my content before, welcome. To those that have, welcome back. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports during NBA season. This article is designed for me to highlight the top plays of the day. Obviously, things can change rapidly in the NBA with injury news close to lock, so I would be sure to subscribe to our premium package for access to our Final Thoughts cheat sheet, our premium discord channel and my core plays. Our Core Plays product gives you the ability to tail all of our analysts in your contests each night. We do the work for you, and you simply plug and play with our premium Core Plays. With that being said, let’s hop into the plays…

Building Blocks

Luka Doncic

Luka really needs no introduction, he’s the highest projection every time he takes the slate with the highest ceiling projection as well. It’s pretty insane what him and Nikola Jokic have been doing on a nightly basis, and with the Nuggets on a back-to-back we can comfortably lean to Luka. He’s always going to be a smash play, it really just comes down to roster construction and whether or not you can fit him in. On a loaded nine game slate, we should have no trouble finding enough value to stuff him into our main lineups. He’s putting up a video game-like 1.7 DraftKings points per minute this season, and I’ll be building around him on both sites tonight.

Caris LeVert

Donovan Mitchell is out for the Cavs tonight, and that makes LeVert one of the strongest mid-tier options across the industry. We’ve seen LeVert post some big games this season when the Cavs have been down guys, and I like the match-up for him tonight against the Grizzlies. Now, unlike earlier this season, Ricky Rubio is in the mix now so that does change things a little bit. LeVert does see a nice 3% usage rate increase with Mitchell off the floor, but the most important thing will be the minutes. We have him projected for over 30 tonight and that has him grading out as a top-value on both sites.

Value Plays

Naz Reid

It’s pretty evident that Reid is the best play on Wednesday night’s slate — priced below $5,000 with Rudy Gobert out for the Timberwolves. Reid has absolutely crushed when Gobert has been out this season, and continues to post almost 1.2 fantasy points per minute. We have him projected for one of the highest ownership numbers I remember seeing on a 9 game slate — around 70% owned. Outside of injury, it’s hard to imagine him not getting there value-wise at this price and he’s a must-play for me tonight in all formats.

OwnersBox Top Play

If you’ve never checked out OwnersBox Fantasy — CLICK HERE and use Promo Code KARMA for a 100% deposit match up to $500 along with a free $10 DFS contest entry. The great thing about OwnersBox is the super-flex format and it allows for some really unique builds without having to force certain positions into your lineups.

Domantas Sabonis

Sabonis is my favorite play on the entire slate tonight, and grabbing some exposure to him is going to be crucial for me on OwnersBox with the roster flexibility. He has an elite match-up against the Los Angeles Lakers, who continue to get dominated by opposing big-men without Anthony Davis. Sabonis has been one of the best players in basketball over the last month, and already has two monster games against this team this season. We have him projected for pretty low-ownership relative to the other spend-ups on Wednesday, but he comes in with a top-five ceiling projection. This looks like it could be the best game of the night featuring a massive total and just a 2.5 spread, and I’m looking for another huge double-double from Sabonis.
