NBA DFS 2/8/23 – Ben’s Building Blocks

What’s up everyone and welcome to Ben’s Building Blocks! If you’ve never read my content before, welcome. To those that have, welcome back. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports during NBA season. This article is designed for me to highlight the top plays of the day. Obviously, things can change rapidly in the NBA with injury news close to lock, so I would be sure to subscribe to our premium package for access to our Final Thoughts cheat sheet, our premium discord channel and my core plays. Our Core Plays product gives you the ability to tail all of our analysts in your contests each night. We do the work for you, and you simply plug and play with our premium Core Plays. With that being said, let’s hop into the plays…

Building Blocks

Fred VanVleet

I try to avoid writing up multiple players at the same position but I can’t ignore this spot for FVV tonight. I will say that he’s been linked to trade rumors so watch for a late scratch, but as long as he’s active I love him against the Spurs. San Antonio is one of the worst defensive teams in basketball, especially against guards. They play really fast, and that combo can lead to a ton of points for Toronto on Wednesday. He’s been on fire over the last two weeks — topping 40+ DK points in four of his last five games including a monster 73 point game against the Jazz. VanVleet can be frustrating at times in DFS, but he’s been balling with Anunoby out and the match-up is as good as it gets tonight. Hopefully he comes in lower-owned due to other strong guard plays.

Jordan Poole

Poole will likely be a top candidate on every slate that Curry misses until he gets a sizable price hike. FanDuel was actually quick to bump him up accordingly, which is why his projected ownership number is much lower there as opposed to on DK. This is a great match-up against the Portland Trailblazers who rank bottom-ten in defensive efficiency against Point Guards this season. He’s coming off a double-double with 12 assists and his usage rate is well over 30% with Curry off the floor. He’s popping as the highest-owned player on the slate in our DraftKings projections — rightfully so due to that price and he’s my favorite option in all formats.

Value Plays

Josh Richardson

Tre Jones and Jeremy Sochan have been confirmed out, while Keldon Johnson remains questionable to play. That leaves San Antonio has one of the thinner teams on the slate once again, and we could get even more value from them should Johnson get ruled out. His price has come up, but he will continue to handle a lot of the ball handling duties without Jones and he’s been around 0.95 fantasy points per minute this season. We have him projected for over 30 minutes tonight, making him one of the highest-owned plays on both sites.

There’s a lot of injury news up in the air still at the time of this article. it’s pretty much a lock that we get more cheap value opening up as we approach lock. Stay tuned to the Final Thoughts sheet as well as Discord.
