NBA DFS 2/9/23 – Ben’s Building Blocks

What’s up everyone and welcome to Ben’s Building Blocks! If you’ve never read my content before, welcome. To those that have, welcome back. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports during NBA season. This article is designed for me to highlight the top plays of the day. Obviously, things can change rapidly in the NBA with injury news close to lock, so I would be sure to subscribe to our premium package for access to our Final Thoughts cheat sheet, our premium discord channel and my core plays. Our Core Plays product gives you the ability to tail all of our analysts in your contests each night. We do the work for you, and you simply plug and play with our premium Core Plays. With that being said, let’s hop into the plays…

Building Blocks

Anthony Davis

Now that the madness of the trade deadline is over we can settle into tonight’s four game NBA DFS slate — in which we will be building around Anthony Davis. There’s definite blowout concerns here since the Bucks have been rolling, but with LeBron James out for the Lakers tonight…Anthony Davis has to be considered a top option. Davis owns a 1.58 fantasy point per minute mark with both James and Westbrook (traded) off the floor this season. With the myriad of trades going on last night and today, we have plenty of value to stuff in Davis alongside another stud-level player in cash games.

A lot of people will be going double-stud with two of Giannis/AD/Jokic tonight and I do believe that to be the optimal build path for cash games. Another guy I like in the mid-tier is Nicolas Claxton, going with a double-C build on DraftKings. The incoming Mavs players will make their debut tonight for the Nets, but that shouldn’t affect Claxton as much as someone like Cam Thomas. Claxton is popping as a strong value in our Projections Portal even with the newly acquired players in, and owns a 1.3 fantasy point per minute mark this season.

Value Plays

Damion Lee + Suns

Phoenix will be the main source of value tonight after making a monster trade for Kevin Durant on Wednesday evening. Devin Booker, Shamet and Payne all remain out while they’ll also be down Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and Mikal Bridges who were traded. They also traded Dario Saric in a separate deal. Obviously Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton will dominate the usage for this team tonight, but we are going to need guys to pick up these minutes. We have both Ish Wainright and Damion Lee projected for over 30 minutes tonight, with Josh Okogie not far behind at 26. I think most people will be building with 3+ Suns players on Thursday night, which is tough to avoid in cash games / single entry formats.
