NBA DFS 3/1/23 – Ben’s Building Blocks

What’s up everyone and welcome to Ben’s Building Blocks! If you’ve never read my content before, welcome. To those that have, welcome back. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports during NBA season. This article is designed for me to highlight the top plays of the day. Obviously, things can change rapidly in the NBA with injury news close to lock, so I would be sure to subscribe to our premium package for access to our Final Thoughts cheat sheet, our premium discord channel and my core plays. Our Core Plays product gives you the ability to tail all of our analysts in your contests each night. We do the work for you, and you simply plug and play with our premium Core Plays. With that being said, let’s hop into the plays…

Building Blocks

Terry Rozier

Terry Rozier is one of the best plays on Wednesday’s slate, even in an expected blowout against the Phoenix Suns. Rozier has been great this season with Lamelo Ball off the floor, and he will miss the rest of the season for the Hornets. if you take Ball, Plumlee and PJ Washington off the court — Rozier’s usage rate rises from 26% to a team-high 32%. He also sees his fantasy points per minute rise to over 1.1 for the second-highest mark on the team. If the Hornets stay in this game, it’s likely going to be with Rozier heavily involved and the sites have priced him like Ball is still playing. I love his price point tonight and he’s a top play in all formats for me.

Lu Dort

I wrote Dort up last night, and he struggled to just 18 DK points on the back of a 4-14 shooting performance. He still owns a team high usage rate with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander off the floor and I’m going to assume he can shoot a bit better tonight. They’re at home tonight, and actually have a pretty solid team total at 115.5. Overall, we are going to be plugging in 3+ Lakers for cash games so getting some correlation makes sense with Dort. He won’t be a secret tonight due to his strong value rating, but after that mediocre game last night I doubt he comes in quite as high-owned as he was on Tuesday evening.

Value Plays

Los Angeles Lakers

Los Angeles will be the main source of value on Wednesday night, with all of Dennis Schroder, Jarred Vanderbilt and Rui Hachimura catching 30%+ ownership numbers. Other role players will be over-owned as well, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis both out for tonight’s game. This is a very similar situation to last night with the Utah Jazz — these guys are pretty much must plays in cash games but last night was a perfect example that you can always fade the chalk in tournaments. Instead of just jamming in 4 Lakers, you can go with one or two and hope they do all the damage while selecting high-ceiling pivots at the same price tiers. Build you cash game teams around this value tonight, but getting weird in tournaments often pays off this late in the season.
