NBA DFS 3/5/23 – Ben’s Building Blocks

What’s up everyone and welcome to Ben’s Building Blocks! If you’ve never read my content before, welcome. To those that have, welcome back. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports during NBA season. This article is designed for me to highlight the top plays of the day. Obviously, things can change rapidly in the NBA with injury news close to lock, so I would be sure to subscribe to our premium package for access to our Final Thoughts cheat sheet, our premium discord channel and my core plays. Our Core Plays product gives you the ability to tail all of our analysts in your contests each night. We do the work for you, and you simply plug and play with our premium Core Plays. With that being said, let’s hop into the plays…

Building Blocks

Desmond Bane

Obviously the big news today is the Grizzlies, with most users looking to lock in multiple Memphis players as they will be without Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks. Bane will see a lot of opportunity of offense with these two players off the floor — and he ranks second on the team with a 30% usage rate with them out. He also sees a fantasy point per minute boost to over 1.3. Overall, we have him projected for one of the highest ceilings on tonight’s slate and he is a top-overall play in all formats.

Kelly Olynyk

Lauri Markkanen is out for the Jazz tonight, which will lead us to playing multiple Jazz players across out lineups. Walker Kessler and Kelly Olynyk will dominate the front-court minutes — and Olynyk is grading out as one of our top values tonight. His fantasy point per minute numbers are over 1.1 across both sites — and he is priced as if Lauri is playing. He is projected inside the top-ten in ownership tonight, but this is chalk I’m going to be eating.

Value Plays

Tyus Jones + Charles Bassey

DraftKings fell asleep at the wheel and took the weekend off — leaving Tyus Jones just $100 off the minimum-price despite him set to start in place of Morant. He’s been a virtual lock in DFS when Morant has missed the past few seasons — and his near 1.1 fantasy point per minute mark is too high for someone of this price range. I’m locking him in, in all formats. As for Bassey, he’s set to start in place of Zach Collins for the Spurs. We’ve played him off the bench a few times recently, he’s one of the best per minute producers on the Spurs and should excel in increased minutes.
