2019 Travelers Championship – Trevis’ Punt Plays

Bet on MyBookie

For those of you new to the plethora of content DFSKarma.com puts out on a daily/weekly basis, this is my weekly PGA article that focuses on the cheapos no one else dare write about. It had massive success last year with my getting sub $7K (DK) golfers finishing top 10 at less than 1% ownership on an almost weekly basis. Well, I’m bringing it back this year with the same concept. My cap this year is $7300 in DraftKings pricing (but you can still play them on FanDuel, FantasyDraft, or Yahoo). I focus on recent form and course history heavily to spit out my favorite 5 golfers from within that range.

That being said, my PGA Punt Plays article looks a little different (for the better) moving forward. You will see below that I have highlighted 5 players within Fantasy National within my price range of $7300 and below.

Recent Form

Sung Kang ranks 9th overall in my model, but has atrocious T2G, BS, OTT numbers (also you’ll see his tournament history blows as well). So why include him in this week’s Punts? Because I’m a mad man and that’s the bottom line because Stone Cold said so.

Nick Watney, on the other hand, doesn’t suck like Kang. He clocks in at 13th overall in my model with his bentgrass putting the only concern. Having 5 stats inside the Top 24 is nice though.

Kyle Stanley is 22nd overall in total strokes gained and is also less than stellar (recently) on bentgrass greens. On such a short course, I believe his 3 stats in the Top 12 will carry him into Saturday.

Joel Dahmen has the best worst stat at only 69th overall (ARG). His best stat is only 31st (APP) however. The point I’m trying to make is that he is consistent across the board. He won’t get Top 20 this week, but he will make it to Saturday.

Scott Stallings is the cheapest Punt this week at only $6800. I really like his recent form on relatable courses aside from his bentgrass putting being as bad as Sam’s Brian Harman calls.

Harris English is a weird bird. The man does well when no one cares, and when we pay attention he takes a dump. His form is all over the place. With the short course, I’m fine with his sole crap stat being OTT.

Tournament History

Tournament History overall sucks for everyone in my opinion. Watney does have 3 straight made cuts before last year that include an 11th place finish in 2014.

English finished 7th in 2014 but has bombed it here the last 2 years. I’d only use him in 5% of lines at the most.

The only Punt on a 2 cuts made streak here, Stanley should have no problem squeezing into the weekend.

Dahmen’s course history is nonexistent. One crappy 62nd finish followed by a missed cut.

Stallings made the cut last year after missing the 2 years prior. With his recent form being “aight”, I see him making it to Saturday for the second straight year.

Sung Kang is a hot mess. Two made cuts followed by taking naps on the weekend, followed by a missed cut followed by taking naps on the weekend. I would plug him in no more than one lineup if you are doing at LEAST 10 lines.
