Last Week Punt Plays Recap

2020 AT&T Pro Am

Another weird event that is played on multiple courses. It also has a guaranteed 3 rounds for every golfer. I am solely focusing on Pebble Beach course for this article since all golfers will play on it once, as well as the final round on Sunday (granted they make the cut). Pebble Beach is played as a short Par 72 with Poa greens.

Recent Form

Jimmy Dubs will NOT miss the cut this week. He is 2nd overall in my model in total strokes gained. I’m not even worried about his OTT rank because of this short 72. Lock him in.

Bill Haas is 9th overall. Same with Jimmy, bottom of barrel in OTT, same reason as Jimmy, don’t care. Play him.

I also feel good about Watney this week. Not that I’m worried about OTT, but his rank is better than the previous two. 15th overall in TSG.

Merritt’s ARG numbers and SG aren’t too thrilling, but he is only $6600 and guaranteed to get you 3 rounds of action. You could do worse.

Wagner is near minimum salary. He will play 3 rounds. He COULD make the cut and give you that 4th round where he would hit value.

Tournament History

Jimmy Dubs did get cut here last year, but had two Top 11 finishes in the 3 years prior. I believe last year was a fluke. Plug away.

Watney also was cut here last year. He finished 14th in 2017 and was the runner up here in 2015. I also believe his cut last year was a fluke.

Bill Haas hasn’t played in this event since 2016, but he did finish in 8th place that year. He is also only $6700.

Wagner hasn’t missed the cut here in his last 3 appearances. He is near minimum salary. 1+1=2.

Merritt fired off 3 straight missed cuts before making the cut AND finishing in 8th place in 2018. He didn’t play here last year. He is the Punt I am least excited about. If he makes the cut, he hits value.
